A website is often the first contact someone has with a business. Within seconds the visitor decides two things: am I in the right place, and can I trust them? Good web design answers both before the visitor starts scrolling.
The eight points below cover what to question at the quote stage of a corporate website project. All of them are less about looks and more about whether the site actually works.
1. Speed: Visitors Do Not Wait
Google measures page experience with the Core Web Vitals: the largest content should load within 2.5 seconds (LCP), interactions should respond within 200 milliseconds (INP) and layout shift should stay under 0.1 (CLS). These numbers affect both rankings and how many visitors fill in your form.
Serving images in modern formats at the right size, preloading fonts and removing unneeded scripts usually bring the biggest gains. For the full list, see our Core Web Vitals checklist.
2. Mobile-First Design
Google evaluates sites through their mobile version, and a large share of visits to corporate sites come from phones. Design for the small screen first: buttons big enough to tap, readable text and a layout that never needs sideways scrolling.
3. A Clear Message and One Main Action
The first screen of the home page should say what you do in one sentence and show the visitor the next step: request a quote, call or explore a service. Five buttons competing on the same screen push the visitor to click none of them.
4. Content You Manage From a Panel
Texts, images, menus, services and references should be editable from an admin panel. Writing to the agency for every small change wastes time and lets the site go stale.
Question to ask: Which parts can I change myself, and will I need a developer to add a new page?
5. Technical SEO From Day One
Showing up in search results is not solved by a plugin added after launch. A unique title and meta description for every page, meaningful URLs, a sitemap and structured data (Schema.org) describing your business should be ready from the first day.
One descriptive H1 heading per page
Social images that look right when the page is shared
301 redirects whenever old addresses change
6. Multiple Languages
If you sell abroad or host international visitors, an English version is not a luxury. Each language needs its own address, hreflang tags should tell search engines which page matches which language, and untranslated content should fall back to the other language instead of showing an empty page.
7. Accessibility
Sufficient colour contrast, menus you can use with a keyboard, alternative text on images and respect for reduced-motion preferences let people with disabilities use the site and improve usability for everyone.
8. Security, Data Protection and Cookie Consent
Any site that collects personal data through a form falls under data protection law: the KVKK in Turkey, the GDPR in the EU. A privacy notice, a cookie banner that asks consent for non-essential cookies, HTTPS and strong sign-in security for the admin panel (such as two-step verification) are essential.
Local SEO for Businesses in Izmir
To appear in local searches such as "web design Izmir", your Google Business Profile matters as much as the site itself. A few basic steps:
Write the business name, address and phone exactly the same way on the site and the Google Business Profile
Name the cities you serve in page copy and in the structured data
Give each service its own detailed page instead of describing everything on one page
Ask your customers for reviews on Google
Conclusion
A good corporate website proves itself not on launch day but in the months after: it loads fast, gets found in search and is easy to keep up to date. Keep these eight points, and the questions to ask before hiring a software company, at hand when you compare quotes.
From our base in Izmir we build web design and web software projects for businesses in Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa and Antalya. Tell us about your project and we will come back with a written scope and quote.
